Keynote Address

Cr Samantha Ratnam

As Mayor of Moreland, Samantha has worked hard to improve the quality of urban development, increase funding for active transport like walking and cycling, implement environmental action to combat climate change and enhance community engagement and consultation. During this time she has held the portfolio areas of social development, social diversity, reconciliation and youth. Samantha currently chairs the reconciliation advisory committee and disability advisory committees.

During her time on the Moreland City Council, Samantha has worked with Councillors to secure the largest funding commitment to environmental action in order to reduce Moreland’s community carbon emissions to zero, increase the budget for cycling infrastructure by 75% in the first year, fought to protect residents’ appeal rights in planning matters and voted against more poker machines in the city.

Graham Sansom

Graham Sansom is an Adjunct Professor at UTS and a consultant in public policy, strategy and governance. From 1998-2012 he was director of the UTS Centre for Local Government and later the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government. Before that he was CEO of the Australian Local Government Association and held senior positions in local councils, regional organisations and State agencies. In 2012-13 Graham chaired the NSW Independent Local Government Review, which has led to significant changes in policy and legislation, as well as structural reform. At the same time he was also a member of the South Australian Local Excellence Expert Panel, and more recently he worked on the new Victorian local government Act. ​

Layne Beachley

Layne Beachley is widely regarded as the most successful female surfer in history. The only surfer, male or female, to claim six consecutive world titles (1998-2003), Layne then went onto win a 7th world title in 2006 before retiring from the ASP World Tour in 2008.

2004 Laureus Alternative Sports Person of the year, 2006 Surfing Hall of Fame inductee, 2011 Sport Australia Hall of Fame inductee, 2011/13 ISA World Masters Champion, Athlete Liaison Officer at the 2012 Olympic Games, Layne’s unwavering commitment to success has seen her awarded on the world stage.

Layne also sits on the board of the Sport Australia Hall Of Fame, is an ISA Vice President, Director of her own charity, the Layne Beachley Foundation, Aim For The Stars and long time ambassador for Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific. She also supports several other charities and organisations such as The National Breast Cancer Foundation, The Laureus Sport For Good Foundation and Planet Ark.Her exploits are astounding, her attitude unwavering and her achievements inspirational.​

Antony’s diverse career includes nine years spent in the Middle East developing leaders from over one hundred and ten nationalities.​ Antony holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development, a Bachelors Degree with Honors and University Diplomas in both Training & Development and Communications. Antony holds accreditation in the areas of Coaching (IECL), Emotional Intelligence (MSCEIT), OPQ32r Personality Profiling, MBTI Step I & II, Human Synergistics LSI, LI & MI, Leadership Circle and MLQ Leadership 360 instruments, is a Master Practitioner in the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming and has a keen interest in the Enneagram self-awareness tool.​​
